An evening of fun and remembrance
Fr. Ken Myers (June 7, 1941 – March 2, 2002) founded COAR (1980) not only to be a refuge for war orphans, but to be a FAMILY. He did that because his own family was so large and strong and supportive. He knew the strength of family to heal, protect, and nurture. That is why we are honoring the Myers family at this year’s Annual Benefit. Fr. Ken may have started COAR, but it would not have survived in those first precarious years, or for the next four decades without his large extended family in the US. The support has been comprehensive: time, talent, and treasure. With 40+ first cousins, even a few gifts, a few times a year, from a few of them would have supported many COAR children, but it has been many more than a few! And COAR has thrived because of them.
Many cousins have visited COAR through the years. They bear witness for the children that though Fr. Ken died (in his sleep) in 2002, the strength of a family goes on.
Many have given their time and generosity of spirit to help with mission appeals, giving over a weekend (or more) to travel to a church to speak about COAR and raise funds, awareness, and new supporters. Many have helped with our Annual Benefit, finding creative raffle prizes, inviting scores of friends and “outer” cousins. And for those members of the family who have passed on in death, the gifts in their memory have given life to countless children.
Please join us as we honor family, sacrifice, and a love that transcends time and space.

There is no COAR without you! Thanks!
